The Dixie Normal College & Dixie Junior College student body officers collection consists of three original notebooks documenting the student body meetings held at the Dixie Normal College & Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah. The collection is from 1918-1927.
The Student Body meeting minutes in each book document the names of the student body president, student body officers and their responsibilities working together to help the students succeed in their studies while attending college. The student body meeting minutes document: student body affairs, school activities, social service pins, D-pins, track team pins and sweaters, basketball team sweaters and uniforms, basketball game uniforms and admittance fees, and out of town school visits. Also documented are the student problems; intoxication, tobacco, smoking, gambling, tardiness, absences and the fines and consequence that follow. The legitimacy of the excuses were to be decided by the student body. The student newspaper publication “The Dixie Owl” was discussed each year from 1918-1922 regarding the cover, circulation and subscription price, number of editions to print, and whether to change the publication from newspaper to magazine, and whether to send a copy to the soldiers and Stake Board of Education. The student newspaper publication “Dixie News” was discussed each year from 1923-1927 regarding the circulation and subscription price, number of editions to print, and decision to send a copy to the advertising patrons.
